Hello to all the forum members who are reading this post,

I know it is a little late to ask for opinions, but still...

Auction will take this place this saturday in Norfolk, heres the link :

http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/...0th-september-2014/1951-vincent-black-shadow/

I do not own a Vincent machine,Vincent was always the motorcycle I loved & I would like to became an owner before it is not to late because of the raising prices.

Judging by the photos the asking price is high in my opinion,it looks like it had a hard life,or maybe I got used with the time to the photographs of restored shiny Vincent's which I always see in the books/magazines/internet and the bike is in alright shape.

I do not have much experience, and I have not seen many Vincent's in my life.

Would really appreciate if some people could share the opinions about this motorcycle.

I do apologize for my bad spelling, I am not a native English speaker .

Thank you

Tomas

I'd be surprised if it didn't need some very expensive work. It has lots of non original parts and the Lightning plates look corroded. If you're set on a Black Shadow offer 35-40K GBP...... and I wouldn't be all that comfortable at 40k, otherwise buy a nice, known Rapide.

Personally, at that price I would not bother, I think there are better out there if you are patient. If you are after originality a lot of non standard bits on it also seems to have an early rear frame member so definately not numbers matching if that is your thing,. Also if the bike has no history there is no way to tell if the motor is good or not and that could cost a lot of money also.

Thank you for your replay Rob H,I am not sure if reserve price is set on it,probably is,I was wondering if the price does not go to high I would try my luck...but I got a feeling I have to pass on this one...

Given that the rear tip of the chain guard seems to be protruding too far to the rear, I would assume that the front mounting is incorrect in some way.
