Hello all,
I'm rebuilding the engine on my 1951 Shadow after a piston failure in the rear cylinder, which caused expensive damage to the cylinder head. It's coming together now, and I'm about to install new "standard" valve guides in a new cylinder head. I'm wondering about the proper fit.
The bore intake / exhaust diameters are .5010 / .5630, while the guides are .5015 / .5635 - so, half a thousandth interference fit. Is this sufficient? They do have the retaining rings to help keep them in place.
Thanks,
Dave
