Just a bit curious. How thick is the sheet metal in the UFM? And what thickness and diameter has the upper frame tube on an Egli?

The Egli main tubes were 100 mm, 4" on the imperial ones. Around .060" wall DOM type tube. I use .083" because it is easy to get and I was happy with the durability.

The original Swiss frames were made with many different thicknesses based on their use. The prototype was very thin. Easy to build but not suitable for street use. It may have been too thin for racing use. Other frames were built light for racing or heavier for street use.

I do have a UFM that I need to cut up, but I have not started that project. Someone took hammers to both sides of it.

you can meassure the distance from the top of the oil filler neck inside and outside of the tube.the difference is the thickness of the wall of the tube or the tank.regards Erik
