T: Fuel Tank Tank bolts & Rubbers

I am about to fit the tank after a 2yr hiatus.. My question is - how tight should the rear tank bolts be? Just enough to deform the rubber?

Yep, I think so. Just nipped up should be fine, ends of the bolts just protruding.

Funny bikes, I haven't wired my rear bolts in years, but I do have to watch my front right bolt.

This what I do, I fashion an OMEGA clip with straight ends and a loop although this is squired off as it is under the Rapide fuel/oil tank also on the back end of the other bikes fuel tank. To save squashing the rubbers too much and loosing the resilience squeeze them a little then wire them using the OMEGER shaped clip to stop them undoing so simple to replace too not having to faff with wiring .

Funny bikes, I haven't wired my rear bolts in years, but I do have to watch my front right bolt.

Mine too…I finally slathered blue gel loctite on it.

I put large OD plain washers under the head of my rear tank-bolts to spread the load and not squash the rubber too much. Never loosened yet - in 50 years.

And dont forget the original spares list shows the front rubbers the wrong way round .....

I’ve always fitted them with the large shouldered area between the ufm and the fuel tank..
