So jury -sounds ok? To me it seems ok, all new, but wouldn't like to leave on tickover too long as the heat builds up which we know..will get it started again and blip it

I think maybe a bit rich, But just guessing, Drawing it down ?.
What happens when you get the engine just over TDC with the valve lifter and just kick ?,
Should be free enough ?.

I only said easy start , To prove a point , Ign' Or Petrol fault,
You can run an engine for a few revs without petrol just to see what problem you have.

Clearly the juice is getting through -tried to start it just now and no dice.
Do have a line up of plugs -top to bottom, 500 Comet for 500 miles, 833cc Comet Ist run on Easystart 10mins, 2nd starting on petrol for 3min

The last one looks hardly used...slight discolouration, but not like trying a Premiere for the first time -Black as soot. Probably because it did next to no-thing.

What make and number plugs Jez,
I looked up Plug gap, Eddie Stevens said you can go to 25 thou with "D" Distributor.
Don't think it will make much difference ?.

Classic bad starting from hot is too rich ?.

The gaps don't look right on the top and middle ?.
Maybe camera angle ?.

Warm the bottom one on a gas ring to dry it out,
Maybe set the pilot to 1. 1/2 out ?,
Don't flood it ?.

Camera angle -they distort a bit these little phones.
Nearly went...May have to whip the carb off and set it up again -seems pretty spot.
Accidently left the ignition on after making the vid for about 15 mins -easily distracted
Although power there -checked on the Multimeter -seemed ok ...Do wonder how much importance the battery makes.

The 500 comet was treated to Champion N9YC -
JR's motor NGK BP6ES's (only new ones I have available)

I had a lot of trouble with NGK, But some people say there OK,
I used NGK when I was in the trade, Got them cheap !, NO trouble,
But things change ?,
I like Champion now,

The carb does not seem far away to me,
Just leave it ticking over a little faster than you had it and adjust the pilot till it goes the fastest,
Take your time, Then turn it in a 1/4 ?.

If the engine stops with the points open, There is no drain, just luck !,
If the lights work there is enough Battery,
You can ride for over 100 miles with just the battery, No Charging,
With a "D" Dist'.
But while trying to start a bad bike , It will drain.

Absolutely with you Bill -of same thinking on the carb -but am open to be wrong about it with starting and may be the prob...can only tick each element off the list as they get sorted -long way from where we were with this bike even just a few weeks ago, there's life there -tuning to hit that sweet point more regularly...Yes - there's lights, it's an unwritten rule book with this engine.
