On my timing side crankcase there is a stamped code within a circle. The location is under the G50 right hand pivot bearing plate close to the kick start shaft hole.
I looks like JD L 15. Anyone who knows what it might mean?

"John Dale" was the company that did many of the castings. I have seen an explanation of the foundry codes, but I forget where.

Thanks David,
Could the L 15 then be a material denomination, batch no or date code?

Thanks David,
A guess what T5/6 could mean? A quality stamp again?

T5/<n> is (also) the part number for the primary drive outer cover. T5/3 is for a Twin, T5/4 is for a Comet. Not sure about /6.
