I think you will find that all wooden crates shipped internationally must be treated.
I shipped an old Guzzi from NZ to the Middle East for less than NZ$1000 a year ago in an approved wooden crate which had previously carried another old Guzzi escaping from USA. I used that because I could easily cut it down to the minimum size for the part dismantled bike, finished up at 1.4 cubic Metres.
Easier to visit your local bike shop & grab one of their rejects, they are usually greatfull to have someone solve their disposal problem. I shipped a Suzuki in a Suzuki crate for a friend to Aus. All galvanised steel base & frame with a strong corrugated plastic covering. More durable than the cheap cardboard BMW items described here!
In your 40 footer it may not need the covering??
