 What is the correct distance between the fork blades were the front axle fits??
Mine measures 6 3/16". Yet the wheeel axle measures only 6". I know that some adjustment can be made with shims between the brake plate and bearing , but not this amount. Any suggestions!!!

Front forks

Hello, Not had time to measure yet, but would suggest that the brake plate nuts usually have threads showing when tight. This will take up some of the difference. John.

From Measuring about 6-8 sets that either are or have been in my posession
All Brampton and Girdraulics at 6" - 6 1/16" except TTR forks (Pre war Bramptons) at 6 3/8".

My Comet ones measure 6 3/32 inches. The spindle nuts protrude beyond the ends of the 6 inch spindle.

So they should, because that`s what you are clamping between the forks.not the spindle. If they do not protrude, shim them out till they do.
