Last week I bought a front damper from AVO for my Series 'C' Black Shadow.

Today I tried to fit it, and having removed the original Koni (which was leaking), I have struggled to fit the new AVO one.

I phoned AVO and they said the top mounting point should be 3/8" dia. and bottom 7/16" dia.

Unfortunately, the Damper Pivot FF70SS won't fit through the top mounting point of the AVO, and likewise, the Damper Pivot Sleeve FF56SS won't fit through the bottom mounting point.

Both the FF70SS and FF56SS I have are standard items from the Spares Company.

Has anyone else had any experience of fitting one of these dampers?

Hi Graham,
This appears to be quite common.
On my TT/Emanuel conversion I had to ream both holes out.

I had exactly the same problem 2 years ago with an AVO damper and I let them know about it at the time. Wouldn't be suprised if they didn't have any imperial reamers.

Yes Graham, they are aware of both problems, and the fact that the paint job is not the best, but that is the way they send them out.
