Series B Geeks and Tech anoraks

While (or is it whilst?) comparing a very early Series B Rider's Handbook with a later edition I noticed a few variations in Technical Information.
1. The "exhaust closing" figures in the early handbook states 33-37 deg. The later one states 28-33º. That is a range of 9º!
2. 3rd gear ratio is 5.5 in the early edition and 5.6 in the later. There is a similar variation with sidecar gearing.
3. Different recommended Lodge spark plugs.
It also states in my later handbook that valve timing is the same across the whole range of road bikes. surely this isn't so?
The phone number is also in variance between the 2 handbooks; 375 in the early one and 690 in the later one. This may be due to the relocation of the factory or changes in the
telephone system.
I am sure I will discover more variations as I read and compare but comments and input are most welcome.
