Series 'A' Spoke Flanges

In my experience, Series 'A' spoke flanges were black. Whether that was parkerising or paint or both I'm unable to be certain.

Marcus has a good memory; the cad plating I had done for my Shadow around 25 years ago was at Letchworth where Vincents had their's done. At the time, I met one of the old-timers still working part-time there who instantly recognised my box of prepared parts - he was in his early 80s at the time.... The cad is still in great shape!

When looking for a finish like black parkerising for the nuts and bolts for my 1920's AJS I hit on zinc plating with a black passivate finish. Nice Matt black with the protection of zinc plate underneath 24 years later still good.
