I think the Vin will fair well against a Python, which is similar, if not the same as a Rudge Special. It would have to be a good Series A single to fair so well against a Python Sports, which is similar, if not the same as a Rudge Ulster.
The standard Python should still give a very respectable performance. Rudge did market 100 mph Ulsters that were a rung up from the Ulster.

How do the Vin engines compare to the Rudge powered one you have?
The model p with the rudge engine definitely feels a touch smoother and a bit quicker to accelerate and seems not to want to wet sump as much. I never ride them more than about 55mph so can’t comment on top end speed. Though the gearbox is not a positive and quick to change between gears . Not sure if the 1932 Burman box was simply not as slick as the 39 version or whether our one is a bit more worn on the model p than the series A’s ?
