Series 'A' Brake Shoes

Was speaking with my local Series 'A' expert last night about H8 Brake Shoes, and what the differences were between pre-war and post-war flavours.

It turns out that apart from the screw, rather than the split pin there's not much difference, although my expert said that he thought the pre-war ones were made of much better material, so I thought I'd do a like-for-like comparison.

Graham, Just to help out........If you have the original pre war drums, these are made from steel not cast iron.......you will need to line the shoes with a good woven material that has strands of brass or copper in them........using the modern soft type linings, the brakes will be useless........all the best..........Greg.

Greg, I have found over the years that Grey 3915 moulded material works fine for me in road bikes, pre and post-war drums.
Maybe I've been lucky?
