SL ^ is a piece of fibreglass, bonded into the main shell which is there to act as a preventer of dirt etc being thrown forwards off the rear wheel and forwards onto the rear carb and cylinder. ET29 As is the hinge for the front end of the 'D' saddle. Regarding using the rear plates for a mount. What are you going to do about clearance on the silencer?

Maybe avoid extending swing pivot and lower mounts, just weld in reinforced lower stud set .

How many FT286, FT286/1, FT287 are required to secure a closed D rear section?
Any pictures of these FT items?

What is difference between 286 and 286/1? left /right? different length?

Are the nuts and spacer to secure an open D, at the bottom swing arm, the same as a closed D?

There are two of the FT 287s, one each side. There is one each of the (Davidd's reply just came in) FT286 and FT 286/1 One (FT 286/1) just has a flat to clear the back of the clutch housing.

I found pictures I had of Sam's D series at Butlers Farm 2007. I now see the long hex nut on the right side and the trapped long hex nut on the left side to allow swing arm secure.

Also the shouldered nuts on both sides to secure the D series rear frame.

Yes, I had the frame off the open D, but did not take photos. It is much more clear on Sam's Knight.

I owned that Knight for 30 years. I made all the enclosures and the frame for the tub.

I received an D Series enclosure MFT288 upper pivot sleeve today.
0.625 OD
0.387 ID
7.50 length

so the gap between the D series enclosure frame upper pivot is 4". This leaves 3.5 for frame pivots.
Are the upper pivots the same length? 1.75"?
