Security Alert ?

This has just started to happen. Every time I attempt to access the forum the following message pops up on my computer screen. I needed to go into my settings and set an explicit note to bypass the security layer in my browser.

I am getting it on Google as well. No doubt our hard working and much under appreciated Web team are working on it.

I know that chrome browser has started getting funny with non HTTPS sites but it comes up on firefox and opera browsers so I dont think its another money making scam from Googles products

We already use https:// on all pages of this website.

However that's not where the fault lies on this occasion.

Unfortunately, our security certificate has expired (this happens every 30 days) and for some reason the automatic renewal has failed.

I’m currently looking into it.

In the meantime, the website IS 100% safe to use, but you’ll keep getting these annoying messages until I work out what’s going on.

I’d like to assure you that the forum website serves all of its pages using https - a secure and encrypted way of sending web pages.

The forum server includes a security certificate which automatically renews every 30 days.

However, last night as our old certificate expired, the auto-renew for the new certificate didn’t take place (I’m not sure why, as it’s never happened before).

A manual process for the SSL renewal has now taken place, and it should only take a couple of hours at most. However in the meantime, when visiting the forum website, you may encounter a warning telling you that the site is insecure.

Also, just for information, behind the scenes, I'm always updating the website software to ensure it's always as secure as possible.

Just this week alone, I've installed two patches to fix a couple of vulnerabilities that have come to light over the last few days.

Keeping on top of such matters could easily become a full time job!
