Where Are You Now? RYE 120

Hi, I've just read a letter from old friend Mervyn Cooke in MPH regarding my bike EV23C.
He credits it with a registration number RYE 120, which has never been on the bike in my 30 years of ownership.
Knowing Mervyn he is unlikely to be wrong about seeing this Reg on the bike, but I suspect the original owner, Ron Owen-Pullen may have used the plate off another Vincent.
I have checked DVLA and there is no record of this number now.
Does anyone have any memory of this Reg Number?

In the 1968 VOC yearbook RYE 120 is listed against Ron Owen-Pullin as a 1955 Shadow and that is the only reference I can find for the reg and I don't know whach Shadow it was. I suspect the plate may have been used on several bikes to save money.
