Glen, the only two all black Touring Rapides I see are lots W156, pictures show cowhorn bars, and S173, with flat bars. I don't see the bike from Wednesday listed in the results from today.
I thought it looked nice, But for that price, A Cylinder was missing !! ??. Cheers Bill. The $ 40,700 Comet falls in to the Gypsy's Caravan category. Then there's the wrong horn, wrong speedometer and numerous other nitpicking faults. An ideal machine for some plutocrat's boardroom or temperature controlled man-cave.
I can confirm, the ($70,000) "Shadow" lot S178 that didn't sell has never been checked by VOC.Two Shadows; one went for $70,000 and the other for $112,750. Both plus commission. The latter stated numbers were correct and verified by the VOC while the former had no such declaration.
Simon I have a few things for you and Jon. I will DM in a bit. Just walked in the door from the flight home.I can confirm, the ($70,000) "Shadow" lot S178 that didn't sell has never been checked by VOC.
Its amazing that some bikes sold and others didn't but not one single bidder contacted either Jon or myself to ask about the numbers on any of the Vincent's for sale at Las Vegas. There appears to be a lot of bidders willing to buy without doing their own due dilegence which is perfectly within their rights, but not how I would buy a Vincent.
Simon
It just had allot of chrome and braided stainless hoses. The $40,700 Comet belonged to Steve McQueen.
Glen
I recall reading in the description that it had been owned by Steve McQueen?Simon I have a few things for you and Jon. I will DM in a bit. Just walked in the door from the flight home.

Not the one for sale by Mercum as far as I know.I recall reading in the description that it had been owned by Steve McQueen?
Is that incorrect?
