Removing clutch/primary chain case

Nope, because the PD10/1 is held in place by being spigoted into the primary chain case, there is a chance that when the case is removed, this might distort the recess that it fits in to in the crank case, and we wouldn't want that would we. If this does not happen, then you have probably been running the chain too slack.
Well, I know what I mean. ET43
My point exactly and also possible damage to the tensioner bolt, i.e. the reason the ball end is sometimes found to be bent. It does happened. See KTB page 104 2nd Ed. also page 26 Vincent HRD B.M-S. Thanks ET43

Thanks for all the advice. It certainly seems a workup for an oil leak!
Ducvelo

It is that!!

Something I haven't seen mentioned here, you seem to be new to Vins, so before you start work make sure it is the chaincase that's leaking. They do have a habit of leaking from obscure fittings at the top and dripping off the bottom (eg). They often leak from where the dynamo goes into the chaincase.

And in answer to your first post, no, they don't all leak badly from the chaincase.......................everywhere else maybe, but not the chaincase. :)

Good Luck.
