SP: Spring Boxes (Rear) Rear Springs

It’s time to replace the petteford rear springs…far too firm. I only ride solo. I weigh 101kg/222lbs/15 stone..
A new damper and new friction damper linings have been fitted..

Thoughts & recommendations on rear springs? I see 2 choices on the Spares Co. Website…

Loosen the seat stay dampers and loctite the handles so you don't lose them. Let the damper do all the work.

It cannot just be the fact they are Petteford springs. These are just longer than the originals in order to give more movement. Do yoiu have solo ones or sidecar ones?. If they are the sidecar ones then that could be the proble. Check that and Bruce's suggestion above. Also fully springing the rear of the seat makes a huge difference.

And lube the lower seat dampers if you still use them.
And check the seat pivots, To make sure they turn, Front and rear.

The friction dampers are a left over from the series A and B, not required with a rear damper, in fact they stop it doing it's job properly.

And for those who can remember a couple of weeks ago, Chris and I were trying to come up with a spread sheet to allow rapid selection of spring strengths for those using the AVO rear coil overs. I asked for some measurements to allow some checking of the calculations and so far have only got one measurement. Does anyone else have any useful information?
