Rattle

think I've identified the source of an irritating rattle to a loose shroud on the front hydraulic damper ( thought the noise was pinking at one point).

Releasing the top eye bolt to access the 4BA screws to tighten them up; the unit promptly collapsed ! to the fully compressed position. So I figure the unit is well overdue to be refilled.

Question is; it seems from quick inspection that in order to remove the bottom securing bolt 867 that the fork blade would need removing to allow the bolt to withdrawn far enough to remove the damper unit. Thinking around this it would be a totally impractical manner to remove the unit, would I be right in thinking that to remove unit not only the bolt needs withdrawing as far as possible but then the left hand side FF57 eyebolt also needs to be removed?

there you are, slept on it and thought undoing one eyebolt would do allowing damper to be jiggled to one side. But hey, why make life unnecessarily hard, just undo both.

Ta'.
