Having just stated the language which gave us buyer beware, I was exploring the Matthewson website to observe this.

https://www.mathewsons.co.uk/shop-2/faq/ (so in case it vanishes)

I have grabbed their motto or 'mission statement'

"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Aliquam suscipit tortor id scelerisque dapibus. Pellentesque habitant morbi tristique senectus et netus et malesuada fames ac turpis egestas. Ut mollis urna lacinia neque ultricies, non elementum neque scelerisque. Quisque quis eleifend diam, a varius urna".

This is more Boris than Nigel Molesworth and therefore not funny:

The pain itself is a lot of pain, but the main reason is the pain. It's time to raise the temperature of this chocolate protein. {Pellentesque habitant morbi tristique senectus et netus et malesuada fames ac turpis egestas}>>>. [The kids who dwell in the sickness, the sad old age, and the nets, and the hunger and the ugly want]<<< So that the soft urn is not the fringe nor the compensation Each one of the teenagers developed, from the casino.

I know they're on TV but why do they have to stoop to this....

That text is traditionally used as a placeholder - default wording, meaning nothing, and intended to be replaced at some point with real content. In this case, it probably was provided with the web template software and was never replaced.

Very suspect numbers and paperwork. Some would say fraudulent and fake. You need to look at good, honest machines to compare prices and also where and when the sales are taking place. I am brokering a sale of a Rapide that is a total bitsa BUT the engine is good. Looking at about the equivalent of £26-28,000. Last year I assisted in a sale of a very nice and original C Rapide for £37,000.
Not disputing, and the "Certificate of Authenticity" is bogus - but why do you say the numbers are suspect?

Have a close look at the engine and RFM numbers. To me there have been changes made. To say it left the factory without crankcase mating numbers is total BS. The one side that does have a number is a million miles from what the correct numbers should be. I base the last statement on the fact the engine number is very close to one of my bikes and a friend's bike AND the crankcase mating numbers of my friend's and mine are within the "guidelines" of numbering. I am not going into any more details than that. My bike is a C with HRD embossing/stamping plus a straight seat stay lug, Series B type gearbox cover etc. To me the engine in that Rapide looks pure Series B. Whether a bike with those numbers should have a straight seat lug or not I do not know BUT I suggest the dodgy number on the RFM may be a clue.

As an old Car mechanic, I do enjoy , " Bangers and Cash ",
Can't see how the Old Junk I used to work on, Are worth Soo much money !,
I worked on the BMW 3 wheelers for a time, And to see them sell for £10,000, Well I am Shocked !.

But I think it's too much to expect them to know what is tricky, And what is not ?,
Given there are so many makes etc they sell, Even Road Rollers !!.

I mean even with what Simon knows , There are gaps in the history ?,
There was a bit with Dave Hills about "D" s with no engine numbers and Strange Crank Case ,
Mating numbers ?, He was told of one with 18 and thought it was wrong , Then 19 came up ????.

You must also remember Derick is an old Car salesman ,
There is always a twinkle in his eye !, And a slight smile !,
Always take what they say with a question mark ??.
Cheers Bill.

My D cases are stamped B15 and reputedly built from NOS in 1969.
