I have been noticing some chatter about photos.... size, logo no logo, thumbnails etc.
Lately I have been experimenting with big photos.... we are talking gigapixels here.
As it's freezing I can only shoot out of my kitchen window for the nonce. As very long telephotos
are used..... naturally I can't do 8' to infinity for focus.... this was done with a 450mm lens.
But, it's practice until it warms up a bit. This was about 230 separate photos.

Hi Rip, I undestand the concept (I think) stitching photos together like in a panorama (or am I missing something?), but to what end...what does it hope to achieve besides a very large picture?

Regards
Kevin

My kitchen window is not the place to take a gigapan but until it warms up I have no choice but to practice how the gear works. The value of the gigapan is indeed to make and stitch a huge panorama.... but the difference is, buy using the controls
to the left, you can zoom into any part of it you wish to explore with great detail.... as if you were standing right there. The one at this link is 272 gigapixels in size.

Oh, no a balloon would not be steady. This rig has to be dead solid. Your gonna have to find some high ground of something like the Eiffel tower to do your Vincent search! cheers, Rip
