According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Irving#CITEREFIrvingPhil_Irving_–_An_Autobiography , PEI used Vincent valve inspection caps on the Repco-Brabham engine. Since I wasn't wise enough to buy the book when it came out, I didn't know that.

The wife found me a gently used copy this past Christmas online for about $100 US including shipping to the house from the UK. Considering what people are asking for them now I was quite pleased. Still in the pre-war chapters right now as I'm swapping between that and a book about Magellan's voyage.
