How would we repair this thread beyond repair:rolleyes:,
well theres still a round hole, no broken bits but, it wont hold a plug anymore
I was thinking doing the normal 1-1/4 20TPI 55 degree (31.75 x 1,27mm)
up
by an M33x 1,25 mm (drill is 31.75.) put on the tap a pilot of oilpump diameter)
than again that would be a special........

Any ideas, or ready knowledge, easyer way??

Cheers

I had one recently on a comet that was stripped, and the housing is so thin that a repair would be quite difficult. If the end of the brass cap was machined shorter so as only the threaded part was untouched, I thought this might pick up on the threads deeper up the hole. It might mean machining the hex on the plug smaller so a socket could fit into the hole, as the cap does not need to be done up super tight especially if a good quality liquid thread sealant is used on the thread on final assembly.
