wow, maybe I should bite the bullet on this...I'm going to miss the north american rally now anyway.:mad:
My box is also a surtees 5 speed by the way.
Which did you lock up, the standard box or the 5 speed?

Just a note to say thanks to everyone who posted advice. It was of course a simple case of mis-timed bevels...I justed hoped it wasn't!
Anyway after a marathon session in the shed on friday night till 2am (sad but true!) the bike is up and running and has 5 gears. Now I can break it in and de-bug if needs be. Rode it yesterday and other than clutch adjustment, all sees well...going out for another, longer ride in 30 minutes.
