NO,, but a little white paint over the bolt head perfectly allowed as one can get yellow or black plastic bolts for more modern plates.

Industrial double sided sticky tape. That is what I have done on the plates for my old Riley car. Twelve years and they have not moved at all.

I'm in the USA but wanted to display the original UK numbers on my bike so I contacted https://www.jepsonandco.com/

Once they were assured that I am not in the UK, they made up a pair of plates, front and rear with the original UK numbers. I chose the embossed-number style. I think they look great, although I have my New Jersey plate mounted on top of the rear. I set it up so it's easy to remove the NJ plate to expose the UK one. Some riders actually just ride with UK plates and keep the valid USA plate somewhere in case they're stopped. I haven't done that I may get up the nerve.

In Australia the Polizei will ping you if you have a valid plate overlaying a plate from another country. Stupid.
