Not sure about the spelling. We stayed in the Wowona Hotel in the park close to Sequoia trees two years ago. It's the oldest wooden hotel in US and very authentic. Good for bear spotting too!
At the USA International rally, we were based in Mariposa, an old mining town and drove up to Yosemite from there. Is was a good ride with great views. Think it took about 1 1/2 hrs.
Be sure to check out Sequioa National Park. The BuckEye Lodge at the Southeren entrance is nice.Rooms overlook the river.I prefer Sequioa to Yosemite. Not as many people.Nice riding through there.
