Thanks for posting this David. My uncle, Seumas Vane-Hunt, entered and finished the 1939 Land's End Trial. He was on a series A Comet, borrowed from Jim Kentish. The registration number of the Comet was FGU 729 and his entry number was 180. Class solo motorcycles, starting from London.
Jim Kentish was also in this trial on his Series A Twin, DUR 98 and his entry number was 82. I have a program and there were quite a few Vincent's entered.

Program shows 11 Vincent HRD's entered. Three were twins and the rest were singles. Twins entered #82 JimF Kentish on DUR 98, # 160 P M Goffey and
W Clarke entry number 192. So it may have been one of these that did the spin around?

The reg plate on the spin bike sure looks like DUR 9x, can't tell if it is 99 or 98, and no entry number is visible like on many of the other bikes.
