Just received a reply from a UK supplier saying they are no longer available.

Ah well!!!!!!!!!

Got mine from Hydraulic supermarkets Leeds, tel 01132707295, last June, £91.20 posted, bit expensive, but very tactile when you get it.
Morgan three wheeler racers use them, open them up at the end of every meeting to see what is breaking up!
Part No.,MF-MM525201000. Magnom Mini Filter
Try them, and let me know, I may need another in the future.

I quite like the idea of a magnetic filter about the size of a petrol filter on a oil line but the Vincent standard provisions will have to suffice I cant bring myself to hang a car type drum filter and all extra pipes on my machines.
they might call it a plumbers nightmare!
however I havent located a small mag filter in UK so its a pipe dream anyway

The above was $40 the last time I purchased one. No rejection despite the H-D claim.

Retro tracing via the net to get a UK source brings me to Sifton pre filters that looks to be an identical item
I searched deep in the dark underworld of UK hadly ableson dealers prices range from £60 downwards best around £30
question is are they the same item?

( and will they fit my Vincent hog? (you see one internet search and im infected :))

Most of my old bikes have little or no oil filtration systems, but still seem to run for years! My old twenties beesa and A.J.S. have"total loss" or "dead loss" systems as they are sometimes referred to, perhaps primitive is best!! [only joking!]One can alter old bikes to the point where perhaps a modern Honda would suit better!! I sit and await the "flack" that will surely come my way!!

No one has mentioned having a magnet set in the sump drain plug , damn good idea and has been sold by Coventry Spares .
Used them and pleased at their grabbing stuff . Also the cow magnet positioned in the filter element and a small magnet suspended beneath the oil return splash . All are good and easily accessible for cleaning . Sid .

Sid,

You are correct. I do have a magnet in the sump and recently at the North American rally, someone was selling sump plugs with a rare earth magnet. I use a long magnet in the filter, but I put all the cow magnets in the cows. A brush with hardware disease is just as fatal to them!
