ET: Engine (Twin) Kickstarter - Strength of G48 Starting Ratchet Spring

Hi,
previous owner of my Rapid B has added another sping parallel to Starting Rachet Sping G48 which is to press Starting Rachet G47 and Starting Pinion G46 for kick starting engine but also to let disengage when motor runs and kickstarter has not moved up to idle position.

Could someone please confirm G48 wire diameter to be only 1mm as with mine?

I wonder if G48 wire strengh should not be thicker as suspension rate feels weak and when teeths of Rachet have worn to some degree G48 and G47 disengage when kickstarting. Is this why previous owner added another spring in parallel?

kind regards
Joe

The spring does very little, If the ratchet parts are slipping then you should change both. If the ratchet fails allowing the kickstart lever to come down, it could cause serious damage to your leg. The fitting of two springs is not uncommon, but it will not fix worn teeth on the ratchet parts.

Yes I don't think the problem lies in the strength of the spring it's certainly not featured in the top 100 mods of 80 years of modding vin owners
