Kickstart cover changeover date

Have any of you an ideas of when the changeover was made from the early kickstart covers (raised clutch actuating lever) to the later style (smoother cover)? As specifically as possible would be appreciated, date or engine number?

Many thanks,

Most likely, there was no single day or single serial number for the cutover. The first appearance of the new style does not mean there were no more bikes built with the old style.

Many of the various revisions introduced by the factory are like this, with no clean cutover. You can ask when the first of the new and the last of the old occurred, but even then, there is usually no way to prove it.
