Well that was cool and interesting. I've back dragged the file when wanting to remove large amounts of material and file and lift when fine tuning whatever it was I was filing.

I dont know, I seem to remember back in my apprentice days (remember that 1" X 1" square in 10G steel test piece?) that a flat file has a flat side and a slightly curved side. Looking at my old warriors in the shed they also still have that profile (you have to look end on down the file to see it) perhaps the US files dont have that feature (Perhaps the Tudor ones on the Mayflower were really flat on both sides) but I did wince a bit in his surgical test when he said (flippantly o_O )" flip it over"
