The suggestion I saw involved drilling and tapping the side of the pipe cap and screwing in a fairly long bolt with a locknut to the outside of the cap. This could be fitted with a wooden handle or several could be fitted to act like legs.
A stainless steel version should be made available for Vincent owners.

soldering iron

just use a high wattage iron w/ the solder type I suggested and a clean tip.

NEVER use the 60/40 pipe tin solder that most use in a solder pot.
I'm telling you guys this MG120 stuff is the ;) bee knees :p

MG120 ask @ your local welding supply

The key to a strong union is wetting and capillary attraction. Wetting is the ability of the molten solder to coat the strands surface. Capillary attraction is its ability to flow or wick. you'll break/frey the cable B4 this lets loose.

MG120 does this much better than 60/40 or 50/50 tin solder.

No - solid stainless steel tube - lightweight

Is that a braided stainless steel outer ?

No, it is the solid stainless steel tube of lightweight type that Derek S. (see earlier posting) has been trialling in prototype (1 and 2) format from DJ Cables I understand.

Roger B got this last prototype from Derek at Hever and fitted it to his 300 engine number series, Series B Rapide - he reports it has made a material improvement over the heavy cable. The tube is lightweight enough to be formed into the curve by finger and thumb.

You can talk to Derek direct to try and get yourself a set if you fancy, or alternatively DJ cables will make them for you direct if you fancy.

Regards
