Back in the 60's when I first started racing a well known Vincent tuner (often mentioned here ) gave me a tip about barrel liner Finish
"After its been bored and honed leave it coated with a mild acid overnight to etch the surface slightly to help retain the oil."
He added that a recommended acid is obtainable from any good man after a pint or two

And that is why Wellworthy used to leave their cylinder liners outside for a week or so. At least that is what I was told by an ex employee of the Salisbury branch. Cheers ET43
