He didn`t do too bad in the Tour Divide this year either. 19 days, that`s only 2700 + miles off road from Banff in Canada to Antelope Wells on the Mexican border in New Mexico.
This gives you some idea of what Guy undertook, first time he`s been there, rode under an assumed name to avoid any publicity.

That record was beaten soundly this year by a Brit, one Mike Hall, just under 14 days.
This race is a completely individual project, no outside assistance, carry all you need on your bike, food, water, sleeping equipment, and go.

It`s a race I follow, because a friend of mine participates, and I help prepare his machine.
Even more impressive was Lael Wilcox last year, broke the Womans record at her first attempt, having rode to the start line from Anchorage, solo.
Tour de France, that`s for wimps !

Maybe I should have been a little more precise. I was referring to Guy`s achievement on a pedal cycle, not the Triumph, although that was also an achievement. But then no one has reached that speed with a Vincent, either.
