Resent studies have proved that piston rings cause 20% of the frication. loss in our internal combustion engines. The piston and ring manufactures have teamed up to solve this problem of H.P. loss caused by friction. It is not new and has been tried before, but the redesign of old designs are proving to be the way to go . Low pressure expanding rings, coupled with gas porting the piston is making added horse power on the dyno. I am going to need new pistons for 2014, that is the way I intend to go.

Gas porting has been a drag-race favorite for years. It appears to work well, on low mileage motors. My favorite is Total seal rings, can't give a link, but google it, they have been used to good effect in my racing Jaguars for many years.

Total seal are they the ones with a coil spring round the inner whole circumference?

No , the second ring has a recess to take a thin ring like a modern oil ring to "block" the gap. Like I said google it.
