Just by-the by……that set screw in the left plate is one of those parts on a Vincent that tries to control the position of a long part from a point very close to the pivot.
It’s a bit like that die-cast block that stops the gear change movement.
The set screw is of course threaded to its head. The section (under the head) in the plate often has its threads flattened. By making a replacement bolt with a plain section that exactly fits the hole in the plate the extended stands can be several mm lower.
This might just be enough for stability…….but it might not…….you can get an idea by checking the range of position allowed by the setscrew you have.

The stop is riveted into the RH plate….might be a bit tricky in situ.
