For those that are interested in various ways to mount the Norton gearbox here is one way. It is on a racer, so the inner primary is a simple 1/4" plate. The F106 has its legs sawed off. Although this particular set-up has some modifications, I think it would work with a stock primary cover...

My Egli racer is done with a 8mm plate and with a belt drive its a easy fix it needs a1" strip spacer over spacers secured with long 1/4 screws in std holes. Obviously it does not need to be oil tight st

Cable stretch an issue at all?

I have diaphragm Norton clutches on my Norvin and Atlas and never recall having to adjust them.

This is the typical gearbox installation in a commando. Compare it with the picture in post 10 which is typical in a comet. Notice how the latter is rotated c/wise. Can you get 0.75 pints of oil in there without it pouring over the floor? Is lubrication compromised?
