Not at all Andy, These are funny old Bikes, Old Sods like me have doing Mod's on these for years,
It's a job to find a standard one !, Not that I would want a standard one.
Did your old pipe have slots so the clamp will grip ?.
I think you will need more than 3/4" ??, If the old pipe fitted nice, Lay it over the top to see how much needs taking off ?, Good Luck, Bill.

Not being standard = Not worth much :D .

On a less comical note :) , phoned Armours and they have a Stainless pipe they are going to cut and slot for me , I have read some good reviews or the stainless silencer

I agree, Don't look too bad, And won't go rusty !.
My Wee Comet a few weeks ago.
I like to check the oil is flowing back to the tank, Look in the filler cap, Most times before I go out.
