T: Fuel Tank Enots Push Pull Fuel Tap

I’ve got to install some new corks in one of these fuel taps (the old ones are missing)...

I’ve got these corks...

They seem incredibly thick, but I’ve been told they’re the correct ones.

Does anyone have any tips for getting them in without damaging the corks?
