Lifeboat Engine Engine Number

Someone has very kindly sent me a great photo for MPH of a marine engine - which apparently bears the engine number T5AM/X/1

I'm guessing that means - two stroke, 500cc, aluminium, marine / prototype? / engine number?

In the guy's letter, he mentions another engine T10AG/X. Engine number 4.

Would anyone know that that's from?

I've asked Simon, but obviously the Club has no records for any marine or industrial engines.

Is that the engine number style for the motors in Amandas, lawnmowers, etc.? I didn't realize they were all of 500cc. Or is this another engine type, not to steal any suspense from the next MPH!

Hi Graham,
Thinking about the Vincent numbering style, the second one sounds like 1000cc Aluminium construction Generator

Amandas were 100cc or 200cc. I will check my engine numbers and reply tomorrow.
Yes you are correct. Amandas are 100 or 200cc and so should be T.10
The Vincent engine numbering system is multiples of 100cc so a Rapide/Shadow is F10, a Comet F5 and industrial engines T.05 or T.07
