Have you checked the rear sprocket alignment to the gearbox sprocket,

Remove rear chain, with your finger see if you can feel movement.

Is it the Norton where the nut is secured by a hex washer with a tab that is secured neatly with a 2ba screw into the body of the gearbox sprocket. ? nice method anyway.

Your right David! I knew I had done the job last year on a Vincent Single somewhere, I just dont automatically associate Albion with good engineering solutions
