• For any queries related to registration, engine numbers, frame numbers or buying a Vincent motorcycle, the only Club Officials who have access to all the Factory (Works) Records up to 1954 (including dispatch records) and worldwide ownership details gathered by the Vincent H.R.D. Owners Club since 1948 are Simon Dinsdale (Machine Registrar) and Jonathan Lambley (Machine Researcher).

    Never rely on Certificates of Authenticity or Dating Certificates issued years ago, nor information provided by sellers. You should always satisfy yourself that you know what you're buying before you bid/buy. Always do your own due diligence.

It doesn’t cover every single Lightning, but it is great if you care about things like how many teeth were on the gearbox output gear as originally built at the factory, or the volume of each cylinder head, and therefore the calculated comp ratio, or how the ignition timing varied from one cylinder to the other, or the cam timings, etc.

The former Victorian Section in Australia took it upon themselves to re-publish it. I don't know whether they actually had permission to do so. It was a photocopy/scan job of relatively poor standard but had all the information. The original hard copy would be a real rarity.

I have an original copy. They are numbered and have a printed signature. Mine has Denis’s actual signature as well. He was a fascinating man. His connection to the Beart Norton and winning 3 gold stars.
