I have had my Comet out for several rides now in the nice Southern California weather. It runs like a beast now that the carburetor adjustment mysteries are in the rear view mirror. One thing that still bothers me and that is the leakage from the primary chain case where the Burman gear box shaft penetrates. I installed the Conways modified clutch and it is operating nicely, no issues there. I am under the impression that there is no seal at this point. When I installed the clutch assembly, I fashioned and installed a leather seal between the case and the washer/clutch bearing, but it has not proven successful. I will probably pull this assembly back apart over the next few months and am looking for suggestions as to how to cure this leak, which, after riding the Comet, consists of a significant drip and, of course, the fouled undercarriage.
