Comet Burman Gearbox shaft

Separate thread because I could not figure out how to add an attachment on my current "failure" thread.

I am thinking of replacing my gear box with my spare..... it is a BAP one and the cogs look in much better condition. It is fitted with a different mainshaft .....see attached picture, i.e the bottom one compared against the Comet one at the top.

Anyone know from what machine it originates?

I bought a BAP box like this and I think it may be Panther.The mainshaft swapped straight over without any problems.
In the end I had to remachine the ' long shoulder' type to fit the Comet as the mainshaft was 50thou bent,causing tight spots on the gears..John
