Clutch issue

Now that I have the clutch out and cleaned I noticed that the springs in the centralizing plungers are not equal in strength . The pads seem to have about the same ware. Is this something that I need to adjust, or is unequal spring resistance normal?

Do you mean the 6 pilot clutch springs??? If they are not even in weight then the metals will not lift evenly and may drag and that can make shifting into neutral troublesome. By any chance do you have an even number of heavy vs light springs? If so if you installed in alternating weights light heavy light heavy etc. It would be even...If they are all over the place then just get new ones to be sure,,

Not the 6 pilot springs but C12 the plunger on the inside of C7 and C7/1. The other springs C29 are all the same.

OK so you mean PD27 and OP11 on drawing # M002? Each plunger should have both and yes they will be different. We can wait for more experienced minds then mine but I think small variations in spring weights here should not make much of a difference between C7 and C7/1. If the springs look OK use them if beat up or rusty replace.... I did not replace them on my 52,, Eric

It may say this in KTB, but if your linings are fine, you can carve holes through them to unscrew the plungers to replace the springs. Resetting the plungers has been discussed at length for 60+ years, so read all you can and for sure, count and note the number of turns when you remove them. On the other hand, nice new linings would be good to have. I had mine bonded on at a truck clutch and brake shop. Your middle plate has the corks, which can wear down. I liked mine, but new ones don't seem to be available. There are some bonded plates available, which probably are better. I had to file my drum slots a little bit to accommodate the ears on the plate.

Thanks to everyone that has given me advice over the carbs and the clutch issue. I put it in last night at midnight, and to her for a 15 mile spin this morning and all seemed good. Accelerated
fine up hills and no problems going up to 80 mph. It seemed to shift much better also. So thanks! Now how does one go about truing balancing a wheel?Or do we send them to a specialist ? I feel an up and down wobble coming from the front wheel at 55 mph. Nothing noticeable above or below 55. Almost like the road had wash board ruts about every two or three seconds you can feel it and see the front forks go up and down, Not much but still there.
Thanks again.
