I bought a twin engine with the gear box chopped off several years ago.
Has any one got a neat solution to fit it in an egli type frame I have lying about.
Has anyone ever repaired a set of cases to bring them back to standard? sid

Chopped engine repair

Sid,
Yes it is possible to mount a chopped engine in an Egli frame. I have seen photos in various magazines and books. Peter Johnson here in Australia did one in a Terry Prince frame so perhaps Terry Prince might offer you some pointers.
Its done by making mounting plates that encircle the gearbox.
You ask about repairing the engine?, does this mean that you still have the gearbox?. There has been an instance where the gearbox has been welded back on too. This was also done in Australia or perhaps it was New Zealand.

Phelps.

No such luck, I don't have the remains of the gear box, I was hoping that someone may have the pattern for a repair piece to weld on. (Bit of a task I know). sid
