Heads up I seem to recall that the bulk of the bikes there are from the DuPont collection and they were pretty rough last I saw....Still some nice stuff there ...

Al whatever you bid I am bidding a dollar more..LOL

It is not a bike I am after....... After visiting a couple of Du Pont houses in Delaware I would never have thought they were motorcycle aficionados. There wasn't even a decent workshop!

LOL They had the downstairs butlers running the lathes....:) Actually I do not think they were for running more just for having..

BTW:

Here is some data.

January 12-14 is the 2012 Las Vegas Premier Vintage Motorcycle Auction. For those of us who are unable to make it to the auction the bikes on the block are all pictured and described on line at <<<auctionsamerica.com>>> Click on “Lot List”

Several of the featured bikes include with most having estimated value:

1894 Roper Steam Motorcycle (No estimated value)
1899 De Dion-Bouton Three-Wheeler (No estimated Value)
2 Flying Merkels (estimate $120,000-$140,000 and $175,000 – $200,000)
1949 Vincent HRD “B” Shadow (Est. $165,000-$185,000)
1953 Vincent Touring Rapide Series C Model (Est. $45,000 – $55,000)

and many more

They are listed in Alphabetical order and there is a good description of each.

I bet you are looking to add a Flying Merkel to your hord eh?
Ciao,
Eric

From what I can see there are actually 3 auctions that weekend in Las Vegas.
1) Bonhmans with a Black Shadoww, a Black Prince, a Comet and a Rapide
2) Auctions America with a Black Shadow and a Rapide (as described by Eric)
3) Mid America Auctions with 4 Comets, a Black Shadow and a Rapide.

Thats a lot of Vincents in one weekend.

Hmmm, I had not considered that there were multiple auctions in one week end.. My comments on the condition of the bikes deal only with the DuPont collection which looked like it had not been tended to in a while...As punishment I will banish myself to the garage for the next 3 days with nothing to do but maintenance on the BMWs..:)

Cheers,
Eric
