Post-war Comets are following the upward trend. Two buyers bid £14,600 for one on ebay in March. I asked a dealer why the rise and he reckons that enthusiasts are taking their money out of banks, where the returns are abysmal, and buying classic cars and bikes. They can enjoy them on the road and there's no tax liability if they sell them. The downside, of course, is that the thieves will be watching and insurance will rise to match the higher value.

But they don't enjoy them on the road, do they? These sods buy them as investments and never ride them. It is infuriating but inevitable. Here's hoping that we really have only seen the beginning of the economic crash and that the inflated values of old motorcycles and other 'blue chip investment opportunities' go bang, just like the South Sea Bubble.

Prosper,

Don't cut you nose off to spite your face! When the economy starts to improve these types will sell off their motorcycle "Investments" and get back to investing in stocks, bonds, and real estate.

The sooner the better for all of us. They get back to play economic runlet and we get some Vincents back. Hopefully at a discount.

Cheers
