Battery Box Spacer

Just wondered if anyone had come across anything like this rubber spacer before?

It's unlikely the battery platform etc was fitted by NSU and was more than likely something the Vincent factory sorted once the frames arrived from Germany.

On Joshua's Vincent Fox, the battery tray/platform is far too big for a standard battery box, and there's a rubber spacer fitted down one side. The spacer has a slot and it slides down the side of the tray upstand. I've no idea if this is something the Works fitted, or (more likely) someone has fitted it in the 65-odd years since it left the factory.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Your going into the realms of rarity more so than "A" Rapides, looking for ward to seeing it in real life, I recall Paul Richardson brought his along to the Grantham annual rally in 1983 as it was my first for over ten years, Robert was ten going off camping with the cubs so I put my sleeping bag roll on the bike and went off for the week end. Happy times.
